We recommend having your air conditioner serviced every year. Regular wear and tear can cause a lot of problems that can cause your air conditioner to run less efficiently or even break. Yearly maintenance will help you avoid costly fixes in the future.
Air conditioner condenser coils should be cleaned at least once per year. Dirty or clogged-up condenser coils can increase your air conditioner’s energy consumption causing it to be more costly to run. It can also lead to inefficient cooling in your home. If you don’t know the best way to clean your condenser coils, contact us to book your maintenance service. We’re here to help!
Yes, it’s a good idea to have your air conditioner serviced every year as a preventative measure and to make sure it’s running as efficiently as possible. Your AC works hard for you in the hot summer months and regular wear and tear can quickly turn into an expensive issue. In Alberta, our ACs sit unused for months, which can cause dirt and even rust to form. Getting your AC serviced at the end of the summer season or just before our first hot day hits is a great way to keep it working well for years to come.
Air conditioner filters should be changed at least once every three months. Not only does a clogged filter result in poor performance (your house won’t get as cool as it should!) but you risk reducing your home’s air quality by blowing dust and dirt particles into the air.
Sometimes air conditioners are past their prime and fixing them will be more costly than replacing. In older units, replacement parts may be expensive or impossible to find. For example, some refrigerants like R22 (also known as Feon) has been phased out.
When we come to service your air conditioner, we’ll help you make the right decision about whether it’s worthwhile to fix your air conditioner or if replacement is the wiser financial move. We’re here to help!
No, your old AC unit can still be serviced using recycled Freon. In 2020, the Environmental Protection Agency mandated that the production of Freon stop by January 2020. The good news is AC units made since 2010 no longer rely on Freon, but the older units do. If your AC unit is older than 2010 you may want to replace it with a newer unit. Newer AC units overall are more environmentally friendly. If you’d like to discuss whether or not you should consider replacing your old AC unit, get it touch with our team.
